Paul Pierce has big effect on John Wall, Bradley Beal, Otto Porter
As the wily old veteran in Washington, Paul Pierce has taken it upon himself to instill as much of his wisdom and experience as possible into the Wizards' young guys. While the assistance is helpful for everyone, some guys need Pierce's mentoring more than others. John Wall, for instance, is doing just fine for himself lately; where Pierce can help is with the mental side of the game, with preparation and with understanding everything that being a superstar in the NBA entails. Bradley Beal, too, is getting lessons in leadership from Pierce.
But Pierce is as proud of Otto Porter Jr. as either of his star charges, per ESPN.com:
“He’s getting confident,” Pierce said. “He’s growing. I think at the end of the year, he finally got the opportunity to play more minutes and his confidence has just been growing going into the playoffs.
“I am steadily trying to feed it every day in the game and practice. He has a lot of potential, man. He can be the X factor for us and he’s proving that right now in this series.”
