Nick Johnson was supposed to be one of the best players to suit up on Houston's summer league team this year, but it appears he may not see the court at all.

According to SB Nation's Rockets blog The Dream Shake, Johnson has a calf injury that could keep him out of action for the entire tournament, a relatively significant blow for the Rockets, who'd like to see if he can handle point guard duties on a full-time basis:

"Every rep Nick can get is imperative to his development. He needs to shoot more, he needs to run the offense for long stretches, and he needs practice shooting on the weakside of the pick-and-roll. He has a chance to be a part of the Rockets' future, but this is a key year for him. I hope this calf injury goes away soon so he can start putting in the work he needs to."

Johnson appeared in 28 games last season, averaging 2.6 points while making only 26 of his 75 shot attempts. He clearly needs to improve various areas of his game, starting with his ability to handle the ball, shoot threes and run an offense.

Summer league was supposed to be a fantastic opportunity for Johnson to showcase his newfound skills, but it looks like he might have to wait until training camp starts instead.
