Nets announce Markel Brown (oblique) will miss remainder of preseason

Markel Brown was a fixture in the Nets starting lineup by the end of last season, but we haven't seen him at all so far during Brooklyn's training camp or first preseason game. Now, the team has an official update on the second-year shooting guard, and it's not the best news in the world:
"Markel Brown (left oblique strain) will miss the rest of Brooklyn's preseason games. Status will be updated after the preseason," the team tweeted from its official PR account Tuesday afternoon.
Brown entered this year with only a partially guaranteed contract, though he does stand as one of the Nets' strongest on-ball defenders. Devin Kharpertian of The Brooklyn Game reported on the severity of the injury Tuesday.
The Nets also announced other injury news Tuesday. Andrea Bargnani (left hamstring), Bojan Bogdanovic (right ankle) and Willie Reed (right quad) all sat our practice in addition to Brown.
Brown said Monday night that the injury, officially ruled a left oblique strain, was a “freak accident” that occurred during a passing drill at Duke. “I made a turn and felt a pop.”
