Miami Heat to hold training camp in the Bahamas
For the second time in three years, the Miami Heat are heading to paradise for training camp.
The Miami Heat are heading to the Bahamas for training camp.
The team announced that they will hold training camp at The Atlantis Paradise Island Resort in Nassau, Bahamas, from September 27 through October 1, 2016. This marks the second time the Heat will hold training camp in the Bahamas. They previously held camp there prior to the 2013-14 season.
Following Media Day on Monday, September 26, the Heat will conduct two-a-day practices beginning on Tuesday and return to Miami Saturday.
It will be a much-needed getaway for the Heat, who are in many ways entering a new era with the departure of Dwyane Wade. Also, with veterans like Luol Deng, Joe Johnson and Amar’e Stoudemire no longer with the team, the Heat are much younger than last season. They’ll need camp to gel before the season begins.
They will play their first preseason game on October 4 at Washington and open the regular season against the Magic on October 26 in Orlando.
It was previously reported that Chris Bosh expects to be cleared for camp. He’s been dealing with blood clot issues for the past two seasons and has yet to be cleared medically by the team.
As for Josh Richardson, who suffered a partially torn MCL during a workout last week, he isn’t expected to participate in training camp as he recovers from his injury.
