Manu Ginobili may not retire after all
The 2015-16 San Antonio Spurs are one of the best teams in NBA history, and — somehow, still — Manu Ginobili is a significant reason.
In a career-low 19.3 minutes per game, the 38-year-old is shooting 36.5 percent behind the three-point line (his most accurate clip since 2012), with a PER that's actually up from last season.
The only question now is will Ginobili play next year, or is this it? Apparently, the Argentinian icon has yet to make up his mind:
Ginobili missed about a month earlier this year with one of the most painful on-court injuries in recent memory, but, other than that, he's looked spry on both end of the floor and continues to sprinkle his own creative genius into every play:
Should he decide to play another year, Ginobili can exercise his $2.9 million player option and hardly take up any of San Antonio's cap space.
He's still a huge part of what the Spurs do, and his ability to handle the ball, make plays off the dribble and shoot threes could be huge in a potential series against the Golden State Warriors, when positional versatility is a requirement.
Either way, the NBA won't be as fun whenever Ginobili decides to retire. We should all hope and pray that he decides to stick around for at least another 15 years.
