Magic PG Nelson out vs. Hawks with sprained ankle

Published Nov. 8, 2010 12:51 p.m. ET

The Orlando Magic will be without starting point guard Jameer Nelson against Atlanta on Monday night because of a sprained left ankle.

Nelson was hurt late in Friday's win against New Jersey and missed the team's win at Charlotte on Friday. Chris Duhon will again start in his place, and Jason Williams will serve as the backup.

Magic coach Stan Van Gundy says they hope to get Nelson back for Wednesday's game against Utah but it is more likely to be Friday against Toronto.

The good news for the Magic: Vince Carter will start against Atlanta Monday night. Carter had strained his right hip in a hard fall late in the victory at Charlotte.
