AKRON, Ohio (AP) One day after a parade fit for a king, LeBron James is being honored where he first bounced a basketball.

James' hometown of Akron is holding a rally to celebrate him winning an NBA title with the Cleveland Cavaliers, who snapped the city's 52-year championship drought by beating Golden State in the Finals. Nearly 1 million people packed downtown Cleveland on Wednesday to cheer for James and his teammates, who were mobbed as their procession inched along the crowded streets.

James has always had a special connection with Akron, and while the free, community-wide event won't be as big as Cleveland's, it will be just as emotional for the three-time champion.

The 31-year-old is expected to address the crowd. He has drawn some criticism for using profanity during his remarks on stage during the massive rally in Cleveland.
