LeBron James volunteers to 'walk on' for Liverpool this summer

LeBron James is such a uniquely giften athlete that fans often wonder what would have happened if James chose to pursue a career in (American) football after dominating in high school - but the three-time NBA champion would also be one of the scariest centerbacks of all time. James is a soccer fan and in 2011 bought a minority stake in Liverpool FC.

Aside from a visit to Anfield years ago, LeBron's public connection to the club has been relatively minor - but he noticed that Liverpool is set to play two preseason matches in California this month against Chelsea and AC Milan and offered his services.

Dejan Lovren, who wears LeBron's old No. 6 for Liverpool, wrote on Instagram that he'd happily give up his number.
