Kyle Lowry's hand may be in bad shape, and he could miss more games

The Toronto Raptors have to get their best player back in shape for playoff time.

Kyle Lowry has been dealing with a variety of ailments, so it made sense for him to rest against the New York Knicks over the weekend and the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday. Now, though, it appears possible he could miss more than just those two. From the Toronto Sun's Ryan Wolstat before the Sixers game:

Lowry has been dealing with calf and hamstring issues along with, most importantly, a hand injury. And it doesn't appear the injury to his paw is clearing up all that shortly.

It makes sense for Lowry to prioritize rest at this point in the season. The Raptors may have lost five straight heading into Monday's game against Philly (which they eventually won), but they're still sitting pretty with the second-best record in the Eastern Conference. At 38-22, playoff preparation is the priority. Toronto can't get ready for the postseason without a healthy Lowry.

So, rest him. Overrest him. Just make sure he's ready to go come mid-April. It appears Lowry and the Raptors' heads are in the right place with this one.
