Kevin McHale wants Sergio Llull on the Rockets next year

Published Jun. 3, 2015 12:30 p.m. ET

For nearly six years, the Houston Rockets have not been able to lure Sergio Llull from Spain to the NBA. But head coach Kevin McHale recently made a public statement declaring just how bad he wants him, at a time when the Rockets clearly need another athletic guard who can play both ends of the floor.

Here's what McHale recently said on Sports Talk 790, per SB Nation's Rockets blog The Dream Shake:

"We'd love to bring over Sergio Llull from Spain. Signing a Sergio Llull would be huge."

Llull's statistics aren't particularly impressive, but he'd add necessary depth to Houston's backcourt. He's only 27 years old and has shown the ability to play on an international level. The Rockets need him more than ever, especially if they aren't able to re-sign Patrick Beverley.

It's time.
