Kawhi Leonard is no longer a star on the rise. He's a legitimate star, with a Finals MVP and Defensive Player of the Year trophy to his name.

And stars tend to represent their country at the Olympics every four years, which is why Leonard will be in attendance at Team USA's mini-camp in August, according to the San Antonio Express-News:

"Spurs small forward Kawhi Leonard will participate in USA Basketball’s mini-camp in August, a precursor to its pursuit of a third straight gold medal at the Olympic Games next summer. The camp will be held in Las Vegas, with practices on Aug. 11-12 and an intrasquad scrimmage on Aug. 13 at the Thomas & Mack Center. An official list of participants has yet to be announced, but Carmelo Anthony, James Harden, Blake Griffin, Mike Conley, Bradley Beal, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Harrison Barnes have all been reported by various outlets. A source confirmed Leonard’s participation to the Express-News."

The experience of playing with and against the greatest players in the world (aka Team USA's roster) is extremely beneficial for a young stud like Leonard. It's a place he definitely belongs.
