Jeff Green expected to opt in, stay with Grizzlies

Jeff Green is the NBA's biggest tease. He has limitless athleticism, a decent three-point shot and the physical makeup to be one of the most versatile players in the league.

Unfortunately, he just hasn't been able to string together an entire season of productive basketball, and with a $9.2 million player option hanging overhead this summer, ESPN's Marc Stein is reporting there's a good chance he stays in Memphis at least one more year:

"The working expectation on Beale Street at the minute is that Green will decide to exercise his $9.2 million player option for next season after falling well short of the dream of being the final piece of the puzzle that Memphis had when it acquired him from Boston in January."

Green was a crippling disappointment in his first season with the Grizzlies. The team surrendered a first-round pick for his service, but he never flashed the offensive dominance we've seen in spots throughout his career.

The price tag isn't a death blow for Memphis, and they'll either try and trade Green during the season or pray he makes that $9.2 million expiring deal looks like a bargain.
