Jazz guard Williams out with wrist injury

Published Jan. 29, 2011 1:18 a.m. ET

Utah Jazz point guard Deron Williams will not play Friday night against Minnesota because of a hyperextended right wrist.

Williams said after the shootaround earlier in the day that he couldn't hold the ball because of the injury sustained Wednesday night in a loss against San Antonio. Earl Watson will make his first start for the Jazz in place of Williams.

Reserve center Kyrylo Fesenko also is out because of a sinus infection. Guard Raja Bell (sore neck/shoulder) and forward Paul Millsap (bruised right thumb) both will play.

The Jazz (27-19) are trying to break a six-game losing streak.
