How realistic is LaMarcus Aldridge on the Celtics?

Soon-to-be unrestricted free agent LaMarcus Aldridge is one of the best players in basketball, and he's also one of the Boston Celtics' top targets this summer. But how realistic is it they actually land him when at least half a dozen other teams will be going after Aldridge's service just as hard?

Here's WEEI's Ben Rohrbach with a pretty good sales pitch:

"The East presents a far easier road to success for Aldridge, especially since LeBron James and Pau Gasol are the only current All-NBA frontcourt players in the conference. The Celtics also feature a creative front office, and there is at least one option they could place on the table if they wanted to put all their eggs in Aldridge’s basket. In theory, Danny Ainge could offer a one-year, $18.6 million deal for next season that would make Aldridge a free agent when his 10-year veteran status commands a higher percentage of a significantly larger salary cap in 2016. At that point, the C’s could present a four-year, $133.3 million deal."

An opportunity to be "the guy" for the most successful organization in NBA history is enticing, but so is max money and a chance to win. The Celtics can give Aldridge all that sooner than later. They just need that first domino to fall.
