Countdown to the Home Opener with FOX Sports Ohio

FOX Sports Ohio will be counting down to the start of the 2008-09 Cavaliers season with a month of showcase games from the 2007-08 season, specials including sit down interviews with Daniel Gibson, Dan Gilbert and Joe Tait just to name a few ending with a pre-season special to first air on Wednesday, October 22nd. Below is a description of each program including when they will air on FOX Sports Ohio.


CAVALIERS SHOWCASE GAMES


* November 27, 2007 - (Airs Wednesday, 10/1 @ 8:00pm)
LeBron James scored 38 points, hitting a crucial 3-pointer and all six free throws in overtime as the Cavaliers won their fourth straight, 109-104 over Boston.
* March 5, 2008 - (Airs Monday, 10/6 @ 8:00pm)
LeBron James had 50 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds, leading the Cavaliers to a 119-105 victory over the New York Knicks.
* April 19, 2008 - (Airs Wednesday, 10/8 @ 8:00pm)
LeBron James scored 32 points, making two tough shots in traffic down the stretch as the Cleveland Cavaliers opened the NBA playoffs with an intense 93-86 win over Washington.
* April 21, 2008 - (Airs Monday, 10/13 @ 8:00pm)
LeBron James scored 30 points, Zydrunas Ilgauskas added 16, and the Cavs played their best game since the Feb. 21 megatrade, blowing out the Washington Wizards 116-86 to take a 2-0 lead in an opening-round playoff series oozing with bad blood.
* May 2, 2008 - (Airs Wednesday, 10/15 @ 8:00pm)
LeBron James compiled 27 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists for his third career playoff triple-double, all the while helping slow Caron Butler at the defensive end, and the Cavaliers beat the Wizards 105-88 to close out the contentious series.
* May 16, 2008 - (Airs Monday, 10/20 @ 8:00pm)
LeBron James scored 32 points - 19 in the second half - and the Cavaliers forced a decisive and fitting finale to this home-sweet-home playoff series with a 74-69 victory over the Celtics, who have gone from regular-season road kings to postseason road kill.

Cavs Spotlight: Daniel Gibson As a twenty year old from Houston, Texas, Daniel Gibson captured the hearts and imaginations of Cavaliers fans during their run to the NBA Finals by hitting one big shot after another. "Shoot Boobie, Shoot" became the call from Cavs fans as Gibson found his place in the Cavaliers offense next to LeBron James and Zydrunas Ilgauskas. The third year player recently signed a five year extension with the Cavaliers. He shares with us why he wanted to stay with the Cavs, what he loves about Northeast Ohio, and how he envisions himself as a critical cog in the Cavaliers machine.

Cavs Spotlight: Joe Tait


"It's basketball time" are the words every Cleveland Cavaliers has come to expect with every radio broadcast from the man synonymous with Cavaliers basketball, play by play legend Joe Tait. For 37 years and over three thousand games, Tait has brought every major Cavaliers highlight to basketball fans throughout Northeast Ohio. From the Miracle of Richfield, the Lenny Wilkens era, and the NBA Finals run, Joe Tait has been there to call all the action. In our conversation, Tait talks about his Midwest upbringing, his personal relationships with coaches and players, and his greatest memories from his distinguished career behind the microphone.

For the first eight seasons in team history, Fitch led a team that began their existence with the worst start in NBA history to the Miracle of Richfield playoff run just six years later. NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley talks about his life on and off the basketball court in this In My Own Words special. "Sir Charles" takes us through his entire basketball career, starting with the high school basketball team he was not good enough to make, through his years at Auburn University where he helped put the football and baseball school on the basketball map, and finally his NBA career, talking all things Philadelphia, Phoenix and Michael Jordan. Barkley also discusses his past as a basketball player who was not a role model, and his future as possibly a politician who is. Through it all, the basketball legend delivers with candid opinions and stories in the way that only Charles Barkley can.
