Former Portland stars are making a documentary about the infamous 'Jail Blazers'

Few NBA teams have been as fascinating as the Portland Trail Blazers of the early 2000s. Better known as the "Jail Blazers," those Portland teams not only won big (making two Western Conference finals) but were filled with controversial personalities like Rasheed Wallace, Zach Randolph and others.
They truly were a one-of-a-kind, impossible-to-duplicate team. And now, get ready America: There's a documentary being made about that team and era.
According to Oregon Live's John Canzano, former Blazers Wallace, Bonzi Wells and Damon Stoudamire are spear-heading the documentary, with Stoudamire discussing details Friday morning.
It sounds like everything will be covered:
"We've convinced people who haven't talked really about this before to partake in this," Stoudamire said. "It will be the good and the bad ... the bad arrest, players feuding with media, internal friction, we're not gonna hold back."
As Stoudamire explained, the documentary isn't intended to be controversial but instead tell the story of a young, dynamic team that had its issues, yes, but also won a lot of games.
"We're not trying to tear the franchise down," he said, "... we were a young team that ultimately had all the ingredients to be special ... a lot of people to point the finger at during that time, but the bottom line is we just didn't get it done. ..."
"We left at least one finals appearance on the table. We can never make people forget the bad of that era. What we want, Oregonians especially, to know is we made mistakes, but we left it on the line for the town and basketball-wise the franchise hasn't had that success since we left."
No further details are available about when the documentary will be released, or where it will it be distributed.
But one thing is for sure: There will be plenty of people interested in the final product.
