Does Cleveland's high payroll put additional pressure on David Blatt this season?

It's no secret that the Cavaliers are in win-now mode. That's what happens when you have the best player in the game and a couple of other All-Star-caliber players as part of your roster.

But there's a price for trying to compete for a championship, both literally and figuratively. In terms of actual dollars, it means that paying millions in luxury tax penalties for going over the salary cap, which is a contributing factor to the stalled contract talks with Tristan Thompson.

It also could mean an additional load of pressure placed on the shoulders of the head coach.

There were issues between Blatt and LeBron James last year, where James publicly threw his head coach under the bus more than once. If Cleveland doesn't reach the championship round this season, the payroll costs aren't going to change -- but there could be a change in terms of who is patrolling the sidelines in Cleveland the following season.
