Denver Nuggets: Will the "White Pride" Cause More Uproar?

The Denver Nuggets announced their “White Gold” jerseys before the 2015-16 season, and it hasn’t been until recently where it had been changed to “White Pride”.

This might not seem like a big issue to some people due to it just being a name of a jersey, but it is a pretty big deal and could get a lot of people involved into some trouble. As of now, it seems as though the “White Pride” name came from a series of items known as “Pride.”

For some reason, Adidas believed it was fitting to give the jersey a name of “White Pride”. In a league as racially diverse, with majority of NBA players being ethnicities other than white, it’s very interesting as to why Adidas chose this name.

Lately, the name has been causing an uproar, which it should.

A name like “White Pride” should never be associated with something publically used or sold by a league as big as the NBA. Even the Nuggets own, Wilson Chandler, chimed in on the subject saying, “Don’t care where it came from, they need to get rid of it.”

I’m sure more NBA players would agree with Chandler’s statement as the name could possibly bring the wrong idea about the NBA to fans.

The Nuggets will be wearing the jerseys again this coming season and it would be a big help for the entire organization if this problem was sorted out sooner rather than later.

A name like “White Gold”, which was the name of the jersey throughout the entirety of last season is much more fitting and wouldn’t cause an issue.
