Clippers send Cunningham and cash to 76ers for Lishchuk
LOS ANGELES (AP) The Clippers have traded guard Jared Cunningham along with the draft rights to Cenk Akyol and cash to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for the draft rights to Serhiy Lishchuk.
Cunningham appeared in 19 games this season, averaging 1.8 points and 0.5 assists in 4.7 minutes. He signed with the Clippers as a free agent in September. He has played 40 career games in the NBA over three seasons, including with Dallas, Atlanta and Sacramento.
''I do think he's going to be a player in this league,'' Clippers coach Doc Rivers said Wednesday night.
The move created salary room, but Rivers said, ''It doesn't mean we're bringing someone in.''
Akyol is a 27-year-old guard from Turkey and was originally drafted by the Hawks in 2005. He has been playing in the Turkish Basketball League, averaging 6.8 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists.
Lishchuk, a 32-year-old forward from Ukraine, was originally drafted by the Grizzlies in 2004. He has been playing in the Spanish League with Valencia, averaging 6.0 points and 3.1 rebounds in eight games this season.
Rivers said he doubts Lishchuk will ever play for the Clippers.
