Chris Bosh on his recovery: 'It's been a very difficult process'
Chris Bosh spoke openly about the difficult process of his recovery.
Following the debut of his documentary for Uninterupted, Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh hosted a Q&A with Maverick Carter on Facebook Live to elaborate on the film series and his recovery from blood clot issues that forced him to miss the latter part of each of the past two seasons.
“I’m not going to lie to you guys, its been a very, very difficult process. It’s been tedious,” Bosh said. “For me as a basketball player it’s always been about just playing and really that’s it. We don’t ever really think about dealing with life issues or issues off the court. It’s always about just playing.”
“Things have changed a bit for me. I’m still in good spirits. I know things will work out for the best. We’re just in the process of making sure I can get back on the court.”
In the documentary, which debuted Wednesday morning, Bosh opened up about the long process.
“They told me that my season is over, my career is probably over. And yeah… this just happened. It’s just how it is.” Bosh said. “I felt right away that I was written off. Just put to the side matter of factly.”
“If a doctor tells me ‘hey this is it and this is how it is’ and I don’t buy that, I think I have the right to disagree with you,” Bosh continued as he was visibly frustrated.
“I know inside me I have a lot of talent and a lot of ability. I have it, I know I have it. It wasn’t a matter of if I’m going to play again, it’s when. So we took the bull by the horns.”
According to the Miami Herald, Bosh had been expecting to be cleared to play this week by the team. However, the Heat have yet to medically clear him. If Bosh is not cleared, Jackson reports, he is expected to take the issue to the NBA Players Association.
The Heat open training camp Tuesday in the Bahamas.
