Charlotte Hornets' Team Store Looted During Protests
During protests in Charlotte, North Carolina, the Charlotte Hornets’ team store at the Spectrum Arena was broken into and looted.
According to news sources in the Queen City, the Charlotte Hornets‘ team store was broken into and looted during protests. The team store is located at the Spectrum Arena where the team plays. Windows of the store were broken into and it appears as though multiple things were stolen.
The protests in downtown Charlotte broke out following the death of Keith Lamont Scott after he was killed by police. The protests started as peaceful but it seems as if a few bad apples turned things violent and started doing things for their own personal gain such as break into the Hornets’ team store. Charlotte Hornets’ players, Nicolas Batum and Cody Zeller, both shared some thoughts on Twitter about the situation in their city. Nic Batum said “Charlotte be careful and be safe”. On Cody’s twitter, he said “This is crazy to watch! Charlotte is such a beautiful city. Everyone stay safe and say a prayer”.

Even though people are upset, I think most would agree that breaking into the Charlotte Hornets’ team store isn’t the solution to what’s happening. It was a senseless act that provoked violence and crime. While this is a very serious situation that the entire country has taken notice of, it is still crazy to see the team store’s windows broken and things stolen from the Spectrum Arena.
Joe Bruno tweeted a closer picture of the mayhem from inside the team store. Merchandise was clearly and obviously stolen from the premises but it is unclear how much damage or how much was taken from the store. The Hornets have yet to release a statement about the matter.
The national guard has been called into the city of Charlotte because of the protests that have been going on. It is unclear what will happen next but the safety of citizens in the area is the main concern. It is shocking that the Charlotte Hornets’ team store was broken into and looted as a result of what is going on.
It is crazy and scary to see some of the things that are happening in the Queen City. The damage done to the Charlotte Hornets’ team store is only a small portion of the stuff that is going on around the downtown area. Hopefully protests remain peaceful, people stay safe, and the looting stops.
