Can Charlotte knock off Golden State?

Published Dec. 1, 2015 11:39 a.m. ET

The Charlotte Hornets aren't a bad basketball team. If the season ended today, they'd be in the playoffs, and a tough out. But the Golden State Warriors are undefeated and a completely different animal. What shot does Charlotte have of ending their streak on Wednesday night?

Here's a closer look from Hornets.com:

The Hornets are 8-2 at home, have a stingy defense and can play effective basketball with small and big lineups. On paper, it's all a recipe to shock the world.

But basketball isn't played on paper, and unless Stephen Curry decides to do his dad a favor and throw the game, it'll be extremely difficult for the Hornets to walk out of there with a win.

The true beauty of this game with the Warriors lies in the fact that not only do the Hornets have a chance to do something no other team in the league has done this season, but they could also forever immortalize themselves as a footnote in the NBA record books as the team that ended the best start by any team in history. In what will surely be an exciting, yet emotional evening, on Wednesday night, the Hornets showdown against the Golden State Warriors will also certainly serve as an early indicator of not only where this team ranks amongst the NBA’s best, but also just how far it has come in such a short amount of time.
