Brooklyn Nets Projected as Worst Team in NBA
The Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas has released the win totals for all 30 NBA teams. Where do they have the Brooklyn Nets projected?
The Brooklyn Nets went through a lot of change in the offseason. The new regime of Sean Marks and Kenny Atkinson are building the Nets identity. However, that won’t happen overnight.
After years of trying to win an NBA Championship at all costs, the Nets are now back to square one. The price to try and acquire talent resulted in the Nets mortgaging their future, and they will be paying the price.
Brooklyn is attempting to go through a rebuild without having control of their draft picks. This is obviously not an ideal situation, and will certainly be a challenge. The Nets still have their star center in Brook Lopez, but Westgate doesn’t believe that he will be enough to carry the Nets.
In their official release of the season win/loss totals, the Nets came in dead last with their win/loss total at 20.5. In addition to being set with the lowest total, the Nets are also a full four games behind the next team. The Los Angeles Lakers hold that honor, as they have been set at 24.5.
The total set for the Nets shouldn’t come as too much of a shock. Last season, the Nets finished with a 21-61 record. Despite that awful record, the Nets did finish with more wins than the Philadelphia 76ers and the Lakers.
The difference between the 76ers and the Lakers is that they have been going through their rebuilds for a few seasons now. The young talent that both teams have been accumulating might be prepared to help their teams win more.
In addition to the young roster, the Nets might also entertain the idea of trading Lopez at some point. Due to the lack of draft picks, the Nets might decide that trading Lopez will help them replenish their team for the future.
Furthermore, crazier things have happened in sports, but the Nets season isn’t looking too good as of now.
