More from Nothin' But Nets
The former Michigan Wolverine has been recovering from a foot injury that has plagued him for most of his college career. LeVert first underwent surgery to repair a stress fracture in his foot in May 2014, but re-injured his foot the following season. In his last year at Michigan, he suffered a lower left leg injury.
LeVert last played on February 13, 2016. Michigan announced on March 1 that LeVert’s string of injuries would end LeVert’s collegiate career. In four seasons at Michigan, LeVert posted 10.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in 26.4 minutes per game.
Even before getting drafted, LeVert underwent three surgical procedures on his left foot, all within the span of 22 months. He spent the entire offseason rehabbing, not playing in a single Summer League nor preseason game.
At 6-foot-7, LeVert fits well in the Nets’ roster theme of versatility, and it should be interesting to see how head coach Kenny Atkinson plans on using LeVert in his lineups. If LeVert’s return comes to fruition in the next couple of weeks, then Nets fans can finally set their minds at ease.
The Nets continue their season tomorrow night against the Pacers, the team that drafted LeVert. We’ll get to see LeVert in action in a black-and-white uniform soon enough.
