Blake Griffin posterizes Brice Johnson at LA Clippers scrimmage
During the LA Clippers’ open practice and scrimmage at UC Irvine on Saturday, Blake Griffin delivered a massive poster dunk on rookie power forward Brice Johnson.
After a week of training camp, the LA Clippers held an open practice and scrimmage on Saturday at UC Irvine’s Bren Events Center. It gave fans an opportunity to see how the team is coming together with free agency signings such as Alan Anderson and Marreese Speights, as well as rookie big men Diamond Stone and Brice Johnson. Unfortunately for the latter, though, Blake Griffin gave him a taste of what he’ll be handing out to opponents all season.
As Griffin effortlessly span past Austin Rivers in the post, he rose to the basket and threw down a powerful poster dunk right over the helpless arms of Johnson.
What better way could there be to welcome Johnson to Lob City?

Not many players are going to have a chance of stopping Blake Griffin once he gets running to the rim and has space to take off. He’s too explosive, too strong, and finishes too well through contact. It’s why he’s made 73.6 percent of his shots taken within two feet of the rim over the course of his career.

For Brice Johnson, it was no different. He did his best to contend the shot, but ultimately gave everyone watching an emphatic play to enjoy, which is what we’d all prefer anyway.
This isn’t just great when watching the play itself, though. It’s also another sign that, at long last, Blake Griffin is completely healthy.
He let us know at media day by saying that he was back at 100 percent again, but it’s always great to see truth of such a statement in plays like these on the court. Even when Griffin made his return a few games before the end of the 2015-16 regular season and until Game 4 of the first round, he never finished inside in this manner.
He dunked, but not with the same elevation or ease. You could see his quad still holding him back a little, before it was aggravated again to end his season.

Well, that’s clearly in the past now. This poster dunk is a welcome reminder, and a highlight to play back a few times as we wait for more LA Clippers action.
