Aminu balances new role with Blazers and recent fatherhood

Al-Farouq Aminu's year keeps getting better and better. He had his first child earlier this week, and signed the biggest contract of his career a few months ago.

The adjustment period won't be easy, though. But Aminu's ready for it. Here's what he told The Oregonian's Mike Richman:

Aminu is one of Portland's most versatile players, a wing who can play some power forward, rebound and defend multiple positions.

If his three-point shot falls this season (he's a career 28.6 percent shooter from downtown), Aminu will transform into one of the league's best bargains.

"It's good to have a refresh button, so to say. When I go home I got a kid I want play with, do stuff with, different things like that," he said. Every time I get here (the practice facility) it's like playing with a new toy again. You get to dive back into it all the way again. It's actually been good for me having something that's not just 24 hours of basketball. It's actually a break from it so therefore I'm refreshed when I come back to it."
