Wrigley Field likely to host All-Star Game in near future

The Major League Baseball All-Star Game could soon be headed to Wrigley Field.
Commissioner Rob Manfred told Chicago's 670 the Score on Saturday that the Cubs are definitely in a position to get a future Midsummer Classic.
"It makes sense the Cubs get an opportunity ahead after the new renovations are complete," Manfred said, via CBS Chicago's Bruce Levine. "This will provide the Cubs and Ricketts family a chance to showcase the unbelievable renovation they are in the midst of doing for Wrigley field.
"Timing-wise we have the schedule of cities set through Washington (2018). We will have an open and complete competition for the All Star Game beyond that time."
The sites for the next three Midsummer Classics have been announced (San Diego in 2016 followed by Miami and Washington D.C.), but that works out just as well — the arduous renovation process that Wrigley Field is under is expected to last until 2019.
A Wrigley Field All-Star Game would be an outstanding experience. What better place to have it? They can even show off their brand new Jumbotron.
