Watch Jose Reyes knock the cover off of a baseball

It was something straight out of a movie – only the ball traveled a few inches rather than several hundred feet.
Things started off innocently enough when Jose Reyes stepped into the batter’s box to lead off for the Mets on Friday night. But then the voodoo took over.
Reyes fouled this 0-2 pitch off the tip of his bat, ripping the cover off the baseball and sending it into a seemingly eternal spin.
That was the only ball Reyes would destroy during the at-bat, as he struck out swinging. Perhaps he was still mesmerized by the spin.
