Watch Indians' Francisco Lindor use a sweet swim move to escape a tag

Published Nov. 15, 2016 2:59 p.m. ET

Cleveland Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor crushed a Mike Fiers pitch to deep right field on Monday but didn't give himself much time to get to second base. The ball caromed hard off the outfield wall, allowing Astros outfielder Teoscar Hernandez a solid chance to mow Lindor down -- and Hernandez's throw indeed arrived before Lindor.

Fortunately for the Indians, Lindor must have watched some Olympics swimming (or perhaps he just has good instincts) and managed to evade Jose Altuve's tag with a freestyle stroke maneuver. The umpire called Lindor out, but the Indians challenged and got the ruling overturned in their favor. The Astros won the game 6-2 as they fight to keep pace for an AL wild-card berth.
