Tigers pitching prospects heating up in minors

While a good portion of the Tigers' farm system has been gutted by trades over the past few seasons, they have a few young pitchers quietly making a name for themselves in the lower levels, with one on the verge of a big league promotion.
Buck Farmer, The Tigers' No. 3 prospect, exceeded expectations in 2014, earning himself a short stint with the big league club. While he started 2015 in Triple-A to polish his game, Farmer has been a strikeout machine, currently leading the league with 47 in only 38 innings of work. The right-hander, who has an ERA of 3.32, picked up his fourth win of the season on Tuesday.
Tigers' No 4 prospect Kevin Ziomek pitched eight scoreless innings for Class-A Advanced Lakeland on Wednesday. Ziomek is 4-3 with a 3.46 ERA and 45 strikeouts in 41 2/3 innings pitched.
Detroit's No. 7 prospect, Spencer Turnbull, is starting to heat up at Class-A West Michigan. The right-hander did not allow a run in 5 1/3 innings of work in Wednesday's 10-2 win over Bowling Green. Turnbull is now 3-1 with a 3.03 ERA and 24 strikeouts in 29 1/3 innings pitched.
