So, ummm…this is something.

Shortly after the World Series ended, Kansas City Royals fan John Karpinski hit the internets and set up a GoFundMe page in hopes of raising enough money to keep both Ben Zobrist and Alex Gordon from packing their bags and heading elsewhere.“We’re in the second smallest market in MLB,” Karpinski wrote. “Did you get $10, $100, $1000 worth of enjoyment from this team? My guess is yes, and this is a way to help show Alex Gordon and Ben Zobrist that KC fans are different.”

It would appear as though the idea is to raise one million dollars(!) in an effort to prove to the All-Stars that Cowtown is the place to be. If the total is raised, the players get to keep the money or, as Karpinski hopes, donate it to charity.

Sounds cool, but, still…that’s not how baseball’s free agency system works, right?
