Free-agent right-hander John Lackey has agreed to a two-year, $32 million deal with the Chicago Cubs, according to sources, FOX Sports MLB insider Ken Rosenthal reports.

The deal is dependent on Lackey passing a physical.

The move reunites Lackey with former teammates Jon Lester and David Ross. Lackey, Lester and Ross helped the Red Sox win the World Series in 2013. Cubs executive Theo Epstein also was the general manager in Boston when Lackey signed a free-agent deal with the Red Sox in 2009.

Lackey will join a Cubs rotation that includes Cy Young Award winner Jake Arrieta and another former Boston starter, Jon Lester.

The 37-year-old Lackey went 13-10 with a 2.77 ERA in 33 starts for NL Central champion St. Louis last season. Lackey pitched more than 200 innings for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2012, finishing with 218.

Lackey made two postseason starts in each of the past two seasons for the Cardinals. In 2015, he pitched twice against the Cubs in the NL Division Series, picking up a Game 1 win with 7 1/3 shutout innings and lasting three innings while yielding four runs in a no-decision in Game 4 in a season-ending 6-4 loss.
