Rosenthal: Brewers' asking price for Jonathan Lucroy 'too high'
There is no shortage of interest in Milwaukee Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy, but the Brewers' demands for him reportedly are more than teams are willing to consider.
According to FOX Sports MLB insider Ken Rosenthal, the Texas Rangers, Oakland Athletics and Washington Nationals are among the teams who have been in trade talks with Milwaukee about its 29-year-old catcher.
However, Rosenthal reports that sources tell him that teams backed off after "they perceived the price to be too high."
Lucroy asserted himself as one of the best hitting catchers in the National League from 2011 to 2014, averaging 14 home runs and 67 RBI per 162 games with a .290/.349/.453 split.
However, Lucroy assembled his least productive season since 2010 last season, hitting .264/.326/.391 with seven home runs and 43 RBI while playing in only 103 games due to an injury to his left big toe.
Rosenthal notes that Lucroy, who was drafted in the third round of the 2007 amateur draft by the Brewers, "remains a candidate to get moved."
