Report: Braves' Freddie Freeman likely headed to DL

Published Jun. 23, 2015 3:03 a.m. ET

After reaping the benefits of his play for a major-league-high 243 consecutive games, it appears as though the Atlanta Braves will be without first baseman Freddie Freeman for more than a few games.

According to a report published on MLB.com Monday, Freeman appears to be headed to the disabled listed Tuesday after he didn't travel with the team to Washington D.C., on Monday for the Braves' road trip.

The team has yet to officially reveal the results of the MRI that Freeman took Monday to discover more about an ailing right wrist he injured during an awkward swing earlier in June.

During the four games Freeman has missed, manager Fredi Gonzalez has penciled in utility man Kelly Johnson at first base.

If Freeman is indeed placed on the disabled list, the Braves are expected to recall first baseman Joey Terdoslavich from Triple-A.
