Pirates' Guerra finally gets his call

After nine long years in the Minor Leagues, Deolis Guerra has found himself on a Major League roster.

When the Pirates put Rob Scahill on the 15-day disabled list, Guerra – a right-handed reliever – was called upon to take his place.

“I was having a good season down here (at Indianapolis), but I wasn't expecting the call today because this ballclub is doing such a great job, especially the bullpen,” Guerra told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Anytime a player gets a call to the Majors it is special, but after putting in as much Minor League time as Guerra did, that call has to feel even better.

“It's such a great feeling just to know that when you work and never put your head down, there's always a chance,” Guerra said.
