Nate McClouth has had a difficult time recovering from surgery on his throwing shoulder, and now it appears as though the Washington Nationals outfielder will need more time before he's able to start throwing again.

McClouth, who was acquired by the Nationals last year, was forced to cut short his first season with the Nats due to season-ending surgery in August to repair a torn labrum.

While the Nats initially expected the 33-year-old outfielder to be ready for Opening Day, he suffered multiple setbacks in his rehab during spring training and has yet to take the field for Washington in 2015.

According to the Washington Times, McClouth, who is now on the 60-day disabled list, will need more time to develop his strength before he starts a throwing program.

In 79 games with the Nats last season, McClouth hit .173/.280/.237 with one home run and seven RBI in 139 at-bats, 23 of which were taken as a pinch-hitter.
