Minor league pitchers Colon, Francescon suspended 50 games

NEW YORK (AP) Cleveland pitcher Joseph Colon and Chicago Cubs pitcher P.J. Francescon have been suspended 50 games each under baseball's minor league drug program following second positive tests for a drug of abuse.
A right-hander who turns 26 next month, Colon was 3-0 with a 3.14 ERA in 32 relief appearances and one start for Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus.
Francescon, a 27-year-old right-hander, was 4-2 with a 1.69 ERA in 42 relief appearances last year for Double-A Tennessee. He also pitched shutout ball in one start and two relief appearances for Triple-A Iowa.
The suspensions, announced Friday, are the first this year. There were 108 suspensions last year under the minor league program.
