Before the crucial game between the Miami Marlins and New York Mets began on Monday night, the two teams met on the field to exchange condolences and honor the Marlins' fallen ace Jose Fernandez.
First, the Marlins aired a tribute video to their fallen All-Star:
The two teams then met for a brief exchanged filled with gut-wrenching emotion:

After the Mets retreated to their dugout, the Marlins players and coaches remained on the field and used their fingers to inscribe Fernandez's name into the pitching mound:
