Melvin Upton Jr. to make Padres debut against the Braves
The San Diego Padres have activated outfielder Melvin Upton Jr. from the disabled list just in time for him to face his former team, the Atlanta Braves.
According to multiple outlets, Upton, who has been battling a foot injury, is slated to make his debut with the Padres on Monday, when the Friars take on the Braves in Atlanta.
Upton probably doesn't expect a warm reception from those in attendance, as he performed miserably while with the Braves, hitting .198/.279/.134 in his two years with the club from 2013-14.
"Unfortunately, it happened the way it did for the Braves and on my side. I'll take the blame for that. I can't point the finger at anyone else," Melvin told MLB.com at the beginning of the season. "For me, it's done with, it's behind me. It's a fresh start, a clean slate. It's up to me."
Upton's brother Justin, who has performed well so far with the Padres, will also return to Atlanta for the first time since being transferred to San Diego in an offseason trade.
