Marlins' Gordon returns to Dodger Stadium as best hitter in baseball

Dee Gordon returns to Dodger Stadium this week to face his old club as the best hitter in the majors. Going into Monday night’s game he was hitting .439 with 54 hits in 123 at-bats.
He was hitting 62 points higher than the next closest qualifying hitter. That hitter was actually the Dodgers’ Adrian Gonzalez, who won NL Player of the Month honors for April. Although Gordon went hitless on Monday -- snapping a 13-game hitting streak -- his .425 average is still well above Gonzalez and the rest of the league.
The Dodgers may have gotten a solid replacement in Howie Kendrick -- who's hitting a solid .288 with three home runs and 16 RBIs. Gordon, however, is putting up historic numbers. According to the Los Angeles Times, only two other players have had 52 hits through 28 games in the last 85 years: Hank Aaron and Rod Carew.
