Indians take to Twitter to roast Bautista, Blue Jays after ALCS win

For the first time in 19 years, the Indians are champions of the American League—and for the first time in the age of Twitter, too, which meant players jumping online to celebrate right alongside the fans. That also meant plenty of opportunities for some guys to put heat on their ALCS foe, the Blue Jays, and in particular on Jose Bautista, who uttered two quotes this last week that he probably wishes he had back: A meandering complaint about "circumstances" (read: umpiring) being part of why Toronto was in an early series hole; and then a line after Game 4 about how Game 5 starter Ryan Merritt, a rookie, would be "shaking in his boots" at the prospect of facing the Jays in Rogers Centre.

As it turns out, that last one was especially off the mark: Merritt held the Jays scoreless for 4 1/3 innings and handed off to a a bullpen that finished the job to clinch the pennant for Cleveland. And after the game, a few Indians players took to Twitter to remind Bautista of his less-than-accurate prediction.

Let's start with Corey Kluber, who likely didn't Photoshop this masterpiece himself, but it's fun to imagine that he did.

Third baseman Jose Ramirez joined in on the fun.

Of course, it wouldn't be a Twitter roast without the Indians' resident social media guru, Trevor Bauer, taking part.

And while second baseman Jason Kipnis didn't tweet this, he might as well have.

Most of the team seems like it enjoyed Jose's gamesmanship.

It wasn't all just shots at Bautista, though. The Indians also landed a few punches on Toronto's most obsequious front-runner: Drake.

When it comes to throwing shade online, however, Indians players must bow to the best there is: the Indians' main account, which spent a good chunk of last night being petty to both Bautista and to Drake and loving every moment of it.

Note to either of the Cubs or Dodgers: Should you reach the World Series, it's probably best not to say anything to irritate these guys unless you have some good memes to throw back at them.
