Hottest Padre hitter of late is not one of Preller's acquisitions

For all of the offense that A.J. Preller infused the Padres with this offseason, arguably the hottest hitter of late for the club has been the homegrown Will Venable. Since breaking out with three hits on May 8 in Arizona, Venable was hitting .400 since that day going into Tuesday night’s game, according to MLB.com.
With another two hits on Wednesday, Venable has raised his average to .304 after hitting .133 on May 7. Venable seems to be in the zone at the moment. Per MLB.com, he talked about his approach at the plate:
"I'm in tune with myself and my swing, and [I'm] having the at-bats in a row to make the adjustments and settle into your approach and repeat," he said.
That consistency of at-bats has been due to the fact that Wil Myers’ injury has opened up a spot in center field for Venable to start. He’s certainly taken advantage of the opportunity.
