Matt Holliday is working back from his second quadriceps strain determined not to make it a third.

The slugger has been in Jupiter, Fla., rehabbing and is set to return to St. Louis this weekend to be re-evaluated, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The Cards have been eyeing the start of September as a time when their training full of rehabbing players might empty and restock the active roster.

Here are updates of other injured players on the rehab trail, courtesy of the Post-Dispatch:

* OF John Jay (wrist) will report to Triple-A Reno today, although he might not begin playing immediately. That will depend how he feels after taking batting practice the last three days during the Cards' series at Arizona.

* 1B Matt Adams (right quadriceps surgery) has been rehabbing in Jupiter the past week, but is not ready for rehab games.

* CF Randal Grichuk (elbow) is doing therapy but has not begun baseball activities.

* RHP Matt Belisle (elbow) was pleased with a throwing session in Arizona on Wednesday and is looking ahead to live batting practice and simulated games.

So is manager Mike Matheny optimistic he'll see any of his rehabbing players soon? Only he knows. He wasn't giving out any more injury information.
