Heyward doing it all as he propels Cards in the field and the plate

Jason Heyward and the St. Louis Cardinals aren't talking contract extension during the season, but more and more it certainly feels like these two are meant to be together.
Heyward was integral in the Cardinal's 4-3 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates to start the three-game series. The right fielder made leaping and diving catches and at the plate went 2-for-4 with a couple runs batted in.
"We love the way he’s playing the game,” Cardinals manager Mike Matheny told reporters after the game. “How hard he’s going all the way around, and those little things make a big difference.”
The Cards gave up a lot to acquire Heyward last season, a gamble considering he's a player that could leave them in the offseason. But Heyward has recently said that he's happy playing in St. Louis, an organization that players talk about wishing to join.
As far as his busy night in helping the Cards add another game between them and the Pirates in the NL Central race, Heyward said he wouldn't want it any other way.
"That’s the way I’d rather it be,” he told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “You don’t want to get bored out there. Especially games like this, against good teams. You want to be active and be a part of the game. I’m just glad I could come through a couple times.”
