Harrison has surgery, expected to miss seven weeks

Josh Harrison had surgery on his left thumb Wednesday and is expected to miss roughly seven weeks, according to Pirates.com.

Harrison suffered a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his thumb while sliding into second base on Sunday.

"It's always tough to sit out. But we've got a good team," Harrison told Pirates.com. "[Pirates manager Clint Hurdle] has said it before: It's going to take us all."
