Free agent Lincecum reportedly ahead of schedule after hip surgery

Tim Lincecum is ahead of schedule in his rehab from September hip surgery and likely will throw for scouts and team executives in January, Yahoo Sports reports.
Lincecum, 31, has spent his entire career with the San Francisco Giants. But for the first time in his career, the right-hander is a free agent this offseason.
In 15 starts this past season, Lincecum was 7-4 with a 4.13 ERA and a career-low 7.1 strikeouts per nine innings. Part of the reason for the drop in strikeouts was a drop in velocity related to his hip condition. But Lincecum believes he can regain that velocity now that he is healthy, according to Yahoo Sports. And he still wants to start.
The two-time NL Cy Young Award winner is 108-83 with a 3.61 ERA during his nine-season major-league career, which also includes two no-hitters.
