End of an era: A's cut ties with 6-foot-8 Freiman
For parts of the past two seasons, the Oakland Athletics employed one of the tallest players in the league: first baseman/DH Nate Freiman.
That's come to an end now that Oakland released the 6-foot-8-inch Freiman this week - as reported by @AthleticsFarm on Twitter:
Freiman, originally obtained by the A's via the waiver wire in March 2013, hit .274/.327/.389 in 80 games for the 2013 AL West-division winning club but was only able to appear in 36 games for the 2015 team due to injuries and inconsistency.

Perhaps his shining moment as a member of the Green and Gold was a walk-off single in the 18th inning (!) against famed New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera in Rivera's final appearance at O.co Coliseum in June 2013:
For his career, Freiman has appeared in 116 games at the MLB level and logged 644 games in the minors between 2009 and 2015.
