Daniel Murphy pulled from Mets game with quad injury

Looks like New York Mets manager Terry Collins will be going to the drawing board again to realign his infield defense again.

In the first game in which Collins moved Ruben Tejada to second base and swapped Daniel Murphy over to third base, Murphy injured himself three innings into the game.

According to the New York Daily News, Murphy appeared to injure himself while running out a groundout in the third inning of the Mets' road game against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday.

The team later announced that Murphy had left the game with "left quad tightness."

While Murphy's timetable for return is unknown, the Mets can ill afford to lose another infielder as they work to get star third baseman David Wright back on the field amid his struggles with a back injury.

Murphy is hitting .283/.335/.414 with four home runs and 29 runs batted in in 55 games for the Mets this season.
