D-backs minor leaguer Burgos gets first big league callup

The liner which struck D-backs pitcher Archie Bradley in the face and has sent him to the DL will give an opportunity to minor leaguer Enrique Burgos. This is Burgos’ first call up after spending over seven years in the minors. According to beat writer Steve Gilbert, this was his reaction:

"I feel like I'm dreaming right now," Burgos said. "It's unbelievable, you know? Especially after struggling a couple years in the minor leagues, to finally get here is amazing. It's an amazing feeling.”

Burgos seemed quite surprised when he was notified by Double-A manager Robby Hammock who pounded on his door in the middle of the night while he was asleep.

"I thought somebody was breaking into my apartment," Burgos said. "It was 12 at night.”

He has registered six saves for the Mobile BayBears this season without allowing a run.
