Cubs getting boost from Rizzo's power surge

Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo was fighting a slump and the Chicago Cubs were heading for the dumps.
Suddenly both have turned things around. Rizzo saved the Cubs on Thursday, blasting his 18th home run of the season, a three-run shot in the eight innings to boost Chicago to a much-needed 5-2 win in Milwaukee. It came after he hit No. 17 the night before in Milwaukee to get this important road trip off to a positive start.
Thursday's win was Chicago's third in four games after being swept at home by the Philadelphia Phillies as part of a rapid downturn that dropped the Cubs out of a wild-card spot.
Rizzo had three hits and three RBI from the cleanup spot Thursday to lift his batting average to .284. When he's swinging a hot bat it can transform the Cubs' mostly light-hitting lineup.
